Corporate Governance and Building Good Business Practices

Corporate Governance and Building Good Business Practices

Introduction:

Leadership is the process of influencing individuals and groups to set and achieve goals. The terms leadership and management are not synonyms. The demands placed on leaders include the need to satisfy multiple constituencies, sense the need for and then successfully implement change, tailor their uses of power and leadership behaviors to the needs of subordinates and circumstances, and inspire people to give their best. Leaders can draw on three types of power: legitimate, referent, and expert. Sharing authority and empowering employees involves delegating authority, training employees in decision-making skills, and using the participative or free-rein leadership style.

Objectives:

• This program is highly participative. Attendees will be encouraged to exchange their experiences and to discuss challenges and problem areas in a stimulating but confidential working environment. This involves the use of short lectures and presentations, brain storming discussions, case studies, and role playing.

• Throughout the course participants shall be encouraged to develop creative solutions for the case studies with assistance from the course leader(s).

Target group:

• Managers holding top management positions who are deeply involved in the improvement of the business performance.
